FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • What will our first session look like?

Once you reach out to us we will email you an intake form to fill out, and then we will set up a free 15 min phone consultation. From our discussion we will determine what package works best for you, or if a board and train would be the best option for you and your dog. After each session there will be homework for you and your pup and we may also adjust the sessions by introducing one of my dog's for support, or to help your dog work through some of the behaviours your dog is struggling with.

*There is always ongoing support with Mere, including email/text/phone support between sessions*

  • Can I sign up for just one single session?

For new clients we always start with at least the 4 session package. Regardless of the behaviour you are struggling with with your dog, changing your dog's emotional state and having them adjust to new habits takes time and there are always adjustments along the way. Once you and your dog have completed the package we can discuss singular sessions or set up refresher sessions in the future, if needed.

  • What are the training methods you use?

At the Collected Canine we do an assessment of your pup and their emotions/behaviour. From there we create a custom approach that is specific to your dog and his/her needs! The wonderful thing about out approach is that we have an unlimited toolbox to work from. There is no one size fits all when it comes to dog training and we work to help your dog based on who they are as an individual.

  • What kind of tools or equipment do you incorporate into training?

We truly look at each dog as an individual and so we customize our training to the dog in front of us. We may use and suggest a wide array of training tools like a crate, slip leash, prong collar, halti, e-collar,  and muzzle. We are not committed to one tool and will always recommend what we feel is the best for your dog based on their state of mind, the handler's skillset, and the maintenance of long term training. We are here to educate you on the tools we use, and we proudly use the best of the best tools in the dog training industry.
